About The Position

Heatherwood Construction Company is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Preconstruction Manager to lead the preconstruction phase for a range of commercial projects. This role will directly manage a team of estimators, ensuring accurate and timely cost estimates while collaborating closely with project stakeholders to facilitate successful project execution. This role will report directly to the COO and is in our Bonita Springs Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction, with a focus strong on preconstruction and estimating management.
  • Connections with owners and opportunities throughout the state of Florida.
  • Proven experience leading and managing estimators or similar teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, and project delivery methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop accurate budgets and manage multiple projects in a demanding environment.
  • Established relationships with owners, subcontractors, and industry partners, particularly within Florida.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Sage, MS Project).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous field experience as a Project Manager or Superintendent is highly preferred.
  • State and Federal project experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preconstruction process from project inception through design development and bidding phases.
  • Manage and mentor a team of estimators to deliver accurate, timely, and competitive bids.
  • Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Conduct comprehensive review of drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope gaps and risks.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost estimates and proposals to stakeholders.
  • Identify potential project risks early in the process and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Support development of preliminary project schedules and phasing plans in coordination with operations teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure best competitive quality and pricing.
  • Coordinate value engineering efforts to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
  • Monitor market pricing trends and industry developments to inform preconstruction strategies.
  • Continuously improve preconstruction processes, tools, and standards.
