About The Position

Johnson Controls is seeking a dynamic Pre-Construction Field Procurement Manager to lead the crucial relationship between field offices and the supplier base. This role involves being the main procurement contact for an assigned branch office, partnering with the HVAC Controls Sales Organization to develop accurate installation cost models for projects. The manager will lead the development of installation costing and the identification and selection of 3rd party subcontractors through various procurement strategies including supplier development, contract management, supplier relationships, price negotiations, working capital optimization, and improved communication between central procurement teams and branch offices. Requirements

  • Electrical industry equivalent experience or bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in building systems or operational processes.
  • Works effectively with sales as well as in team settings/displays leadership.
  • Solid computer skills, including an understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Project.
  • 5-8 years as a project manager with estimating experience in the HVAC Controls construction or trades industry.
  • Procurement experience with a focus on construction and/or HVAC equipment and services with experience in cost analysis and strong financial knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in design build construction and HVAC highly preferred.
  • Electrical industry / installation knowledge a plus (i.e. Electrical Supervisor, Electrician, Estimator, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Lead a crucial relationship between field offices and the supplier base.
  • Serve as the main procurement contact for the assigned branch office, partnering directly with the HVAC Controls Sales Organization to develop accurate installation cost models for projects.
  • Lead the development of installation costing and the identification and selection of 3rd party subcontractors.
  • Achieve objectives through supplier development, contract management, supplier relationships, price negotiations, working capital optimization, and improved communication between central procurement teams and branch offices.
  • Develop, align, and implement supply chain strategies to deliver the most efficient methods for branch offices to procure subcontract labor from suppliers.
  • Coordinate all operational procurement activities, utilizing systems, processes, and procedures governing the procurement of subcontract labor.
  • Ensure compliance with BOS procedures and DoA requirements.
  • Partner with Sales during the project development phase to own Subcon Installation pricing.
  • Determine Subcon Strategy.
  • Review total Project SOW, qualify and clarify Subcon requirements.
  • Utilize Estimating Tools to develop baseline Subcon Installation Pricing.
  • Source all 3rd Party Sub Quotes.
  • Review Customer documents to ensure adequate provisions are in JCI contract to Subcontractors.
  • Develop, Host, Review all RFPs.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
