About The Position

The 3rd Shift Precision Sheet Metal Group Leader is responsible for supervising the 3rd Shift Leads and Production associates involved in the creation of sheet metal products, reporting to the KPSM Fabrication Manager. This role involves establishing a safety-first environment, promoting 5S awareness, and coordinating efficient job throughput through various production disciplines. The Group Leader will also organize, plan, and prioritize work for optimal use of time and machinery, operate CNC machinery, and manage material movement. Key responsibilities include coordinating machine startup and maintenance, participating in production meetings, communicating downtime issues, and collaborating with the Fabrication Manager on equipment, Lean initiatives, hiring, and employee development. The position also involves recommending disciplinary actions and utilizing production schedules and Job Boss tools.

Requirements

  • Physically able to operate different machinery/equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of standing walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, stooping, and carrying materials.
  • Must be able to lift thirty-five pounds at a time.
  • Noise levels can be loud and disruptive at times.
  • Warehouse environment, indoor but not climate controlled.

  • Sheet metal fabrication: 10+ year (Preferred)
  • CNC Machinery Setup and Operation: 10+ year (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Establish a Safety-First team environment with all Production associates, including proper use of PPE: safety shoes, safety glasses, protective gloves.
  • Demonstrate a culture of 5S awareness, team wide, to maintain organization and cleanliness.
  • Working with Fabrication Leads, coordinating the efficient throughput of jobs through the facility. Production disciplines include Material Handling, CNC punching and laser cutting, CNC sheet metal forming, PEM hardware installation, welding, and deburr or finishing as required.
  • Organizing, planning, and prioritizing work, for the most efficient use of time and machinery in accordance with the KPSM Production Schedule
  • Setup and Operate CNC lasers, CNC punch presses, CNC press brakes as needed.
  • Use pallet jacks, carts, and lift trucks to move material between work centers.
  • Coordinate daily machine specific startup and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in weekly production meetings to align with Kratos’ business priorities.
  • Communicate machine downtime issues needing support.
  • Work closely with the KPSM Fabrication Manager for equipment proposals, Lean initiatives, interviewing new hires, helping to document employee deficiencies or behavioral corrections.
  • Utilize production schedules, Job Boss tools to stay on schedule.
  • Recommend discipline actions to the Fabrication Manager.
