This position plays a critical role in the building and delivery of world-class space-based telescopes. As a low-volume, high-mix manufacturer operating much like an advanced development organization, the role requires team members who bring strong critical thinking, exceptional hands-on capability, and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges. The technician will work closely with a cross-functional team of manufacturing engineers, design engineers, and program managers to assemble, test, and deliver precision optical and electro-mechanical hardware for space applications. The role is ideal for someone who excels in dynamic, development-driven environments where curiosity, adaptability, and technical rigor are essential, especially given that much of the work involves first-time builds and evolving documentation. This position is part of the L3Harris Imaging Division site in Wilmington, MA, which has a history of producing optical equipment for commercial and government customers, including NASA, notably supporting programs like NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft.
