About The Position

South Bay Solutions is seeking a highly detail-oriented Precision Masking Technician to support its new powder coating operation serving the semiconductor and medical device industries. The role masks machined metal components before powder coating using a range of materials and techniques. Masking directly affects product quality and customer acceptance, so this precision manufacturing position requires patience, creativity, efficiency, and exceptional attention to detail.

Requirements

At least 2 years of masking experience in powder coating, industrial painting, aerospace, or precision metal finishing.
Ability to read blueprints.
Excellent hand dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
High attention to detail.
Experience using high-temperature tapes, silicone plugs, silicone caps, liquid masking, and custom masking fixtures.
Ability to work independently.
Creative problem solving, process improvement mindset, time management, quality focus, organization, and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand throughout the shift.
Color vision sufficient to distinguish masking requirements.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

Interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, and masking requirements.
Apply high-temperature masking tapes, silicone plugs, caps, discs, and custom masking solutions.
Develop masking techniques for complex geometries.
Protect critical surfaces, threaded holes, sealing surfaces, and precision-machined features.
Verify masking before parts enter the powder coating process.
Remove masking after curing without damaging coated surfaces.
Inspect completed parts for masking defects.
Maintain masking inventory and recommend new masking products.
Participate in continuous improvement activities to reduce masking time while maintaining quality.
Assist with part preparation, hanging, and packaging as required.
Maintain a clean work area using 6S principles.
