Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our Team as a Precision Electromechanical Assembler 4 (4th shift) based out of Rolling Meadows, IL. The selected candidate will be responsible for the execution and support of all mechanical activities as they relate to the production of optical-mechanical assemblies, including tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on opto-mechanical, electro-optical and electronic and/or mechanical assemblies. Working from diagrams and drawings, making initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools. Performs continuity checks on work in process and completed assemblies. May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications provided by engineering groups.

Requirements

High school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of 6 years of mechanical assembly work experience or an Associate's degree with 4 years of relevant work experience.
Hands on experience with various tooling and equipment.
Experience following work instructions and reading/interpreting drawings.
Experience with building or working with wire harnesses and/or cable assemblies.
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with precision mechanical assemblies and tight tolerance work.
Soldering, crimping, and connector installation experience.
Troubleshooting experience with new hardware design.
Working with chemicals
SAP or MES equivalent
Must be able to work OT if required
Extensive mechanical experience

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical assembly, potting, magnet stacking, mpm, transmitter assembly
Rework/troubleshooting
In process inspections
Running and maintaining furnaces
Honing/machining
Quality self-inspect
Microscope and manual dexterity operations
Perform some automated testing
Read and interpret drawings, schematics, work instructions, and assembly documentation.
Use a wide range of precision hand tools, torque tools, measuring equipment and mechanical test equipment.
Perform mechanical fit-up, alignment, and hardware installation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must be willing to work with minimal support
