About The Position

Precision Component Assembly Technicians use small hand tools, power tools and microscopes to assemble medical devices, such as flexible endoscopes. As a Precision Component Assembly Technicians you will also perform subassembly. This role delivers superior Customer Experience by providing timely and quality repairs to meet compliance standards, as part of a high performing team. This role will be based in our Chesterfield, MO Repair Lab, where you will have a dedicated work bench. No previous medical repair experience required! We will train you. Transferable experience may include hands-on repair, assembly, or product testing. Other transferable experience might include small engine repair, cell phone and electronics repair/ testing/ re-builds, carpentry, circuit board assembly/repair, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, maintenance, construction, and automotive repair.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of work experience, including at least 1 year of relevant experience, or 1 year of experience at STERIS; all experience must be verifiable.
  • Relevant experience may include hands-on repair, assembly, or product testing. Other transferable experience might include small engine repair, cell phone and electronics repair/ testing/ re-builds, carpentry, circuit board assembly/repair, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, maintenance, construction, and automotive repair.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times and push instrument carts ranging from 10-150 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to meet flexible schedules with early/late hours and sometimes outside normal business hours including evenings and weekends, based on Customer and business needs.
  • Related certifications in technical or mechanical area, competitive equipment training or related military experience may be considered towards experience requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with solder, brazing or other fine mechanical applications.
  • Vocational / Technical Degree.
  • Certifications in technical training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to intermediate level repairs of surgical devices and equipment to specifications.
  • Identify problems and use standardized testing procedures, examine and test mechanisms for defects, replace or repair defective parts.
  • Troubleshoot, reassemble surgical devices and tests assembly for conformance to specifications.
  • Identify risks and issues and escalate timely and effectively.
  • Adhere to Standard Work Instructions (SWI). Become aware of and conform to Company ISO goals and objectives and support ISO requirements.
  • Complete workplace organization audits and safety observations per site requirements.
  • Abide by all Company safety, health policies, and procedures. Use personal protective equipment, as required.
