About The Position

The Precast Yard Supervisor (Lead Hand) is responsible for overseeing daily operations at the Sturgeon County Plant, supervising a team of precast labourers and fork lift operators, and ensuring the production of high-quality concrete products such as stairs and other residential products. This leadership role involves planning and assigning daily tasks, reading and interpreting blueprints, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates bring experience in precast concrete or construction, strong leadership abilities, and a safety-first mindset. This is a physically demanding, full-time position in a plant and outdoor environment, requiring flexibility to work extended hours during peak seasons.

Requirements

  • Prior experience leading a team of 5+ employees.
  • Experience working with concrete preferred, experience in a precast concrete environment is a major asset.
  • Basic mechanical ability to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to consistently lift up to 50lbs.
  • Valid class 5 drivers’ license and clean drivers abstract.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift ticket is preferred.
  • CSTS Certification is preferred.
  • WHIMIS training is preferred.
  • First aid certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and assign duties to precast labourers and fork lift operators.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and customer specifications.
  • Plan and delegate daily tasks based on customer orders.
  • Inspect concrete surfaces to ensure that they meet specifications.
  • Coordinate with General Manager, Safety, and other internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
  • Implement and maintain safety protocols on job sites.
  • Run the loader safely and effectively as needed.
  • Operate handheld tools such as vibrators, drills, and other equipment.
  • Perform general housekeeping and yard organization.
  • Train and mentor junior team members.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Champion RMC’s safety programs and initiatives, leading by example for the plant team, including, attending/leading safety meetings, reporting and identifying hazards, wearing PPE, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
