About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a pre-job inspection ahead of the bore contractors to identify any hazards that the line crew or bore crew may encounter before work begins as well as doing crew audits and bore shot approvals. The individual in this role must be able to perform thorough pre-job site inspections to identify existing and potential hazards. They will identify all house services and main lines using Oncor prints, determine the planned bore route and identify the correct transformer compartment for the new electric conduit, and verify that the proposed bore path is clear of existing electrical facilities and other underground utilities that could be impacted. The General Foreman (GF) will identify all existing electric cables that are scheduled for replacement, as well as any other energized or existing cables that may be within the proposed bore path. Once the GF has verified that the bore path is safe, both the GF and the bore contractor will sign an approval document. The signatures indicate the General Foreman acknowledges that the proposed bore path has been reviewed, approved and acknowledges he has identified all hazards and contractor has located all electric lines, and the Bore Contractor acknowledges the approved bore path and agrees to follow it during construction. The GF/Inspector will visit various jobsites around the DFW area and the outer limits inspecting and visiting bore contractors daily.

Requirements

Experience working in energized transformers.
Ability to open and close transformer compartments to identify potential hazards and verify cable configurations.
Ability to determine whether cables are switched for an open-loop configuration or whether the loop has been returned to its normal operating configuration.

Responsibilities
