About The Position

Boston Battery Wholesale, a franchise of Interstate Batteries, is seeking a Route Delivery Driver for their Milford, MA location. This full-time position involves safely delivering Interstate Batteries to dealers and customers, performing physical labor to lift and carry heavy batteries, and building relationships with customers to increase battery sales. The role combines aspects of delivery driving, customer service, and sales. The typical schedule is Monday-Friday, with hours varying based on the season (approximately 6:30 am to 5:00 pm during winter busy season and 3:30 pm during other months). This is a physically demanding role that requires working in various weather conditions and involves regular heavy lifting.

Requirements

  • Reliability and consistent on-time attendance.
  • Ability to meet schedule requirements, including overtime.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (5 years accident-free, 3 years free of moving violations).
  • Ability to pass drug screens (including marijuana) and a pre-employment/criminal background check.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain a valid DOT medical card prior to employment.
  • At least 1 year of experience driving non-CDL commercial trucks (vans, box trucks, or Hino).
  • Exceptional people skills, ability to communicate, stay focused, and be organized.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Proficiency with technology (handheld computers, tablets, smartphones).
  • Ability and willingness to wear required PPE.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Looking for a long-term career.

Responsibilities

  • Safely deliver batteries to dealers/customers following an assigned route.
  • Perform physical labor to lift and carry heavy batteries.
  • Build relationships with customers to increase battery sales.
  • Complete pre-trip & post-trip truck inspections.
  • Follow all traffic rules.
  • Maintain clean customer rack displays with accurate inventory at dealer locations.
  • Rotate batteries to follow the first-in, first-out rule.
  • Collect used batteries (cores) when needed.
  • Address customer issues and educate on new products.
  • Use a handheld device to print tickets and input data.
  • Collect customer payments or verify payment plan status.
  • Perform physical work such as lifting and carrying up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Safely drive non-CDL trucks 8-10 hours per day in city or suburban environments.
  • Become a battery product expert, gaining a clear understanding of battery types and customer needs.
