About The Position

This position is considered Seasonal Full-Time, with an approximate start date in March/April and running through December, including some downtime during the off-peak period. The role involves conducting a classroom instructional curriculum and activities for assigned children, encouraging their growth in language, social, emotional, physical, intellectual, and communication skills. The teacher will supervise and monitor the work activities of assigned Preschool Aide(s), conduct and monitor developmental screening of children, and assist in collaborating and implementing Individual Educational Plans (IEPs). They will also monitor the progress of individual children, perform daily health checks, and participate in home visits with parents and conduct parent-staff conferences. Preparation, maintenance, and presentation of records, documents, reports, reviews, and databases are also key responsibilities. The role includes assisting in interviewing, hiring, and evaluation of Teacher Aides and representing the MSHS program to community and local/regional educational agencies. Developing and maintaining a dual language classroom, preparing children for transition into kindergarten, and implementing CLASS dimensions and domains are also part of the role. The teacher will participate in early release trainings, mentoring, and professional development, and must be able to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, provide children with experiences that foster curiosity, initiative, problem-solving, and creativity, and develop and implement clear, reasonable, consistent, and age-appropriate rules and expectations for children, engaging them in the rule-setting process. Maintaining standards of confidentiality and performing all work duties in accordance with CC Idaho policies, procedures, safety practices, and Head Start Performance Standards are also required.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in early childhood education (ECE) or related field with ECE credits
  • One-year teaching or related early education experience
  • Current driver's license and proof of auto insurance
  • Must pass physical examination and background checks, including state day care clearance
  • Must obtain clearance of Tuberculosis
  • Must obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification

Nice To Haves

  • Two years or more teaching or related early education experience
  • Ability to proficiently read, speak, and write in both English/Spanish in a business setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field with ECE credits
