About The Position

The Preschool Coordinator fulfills the mission of the school by coordinating the school's early childhood program. The Preschool Coordinator is responsible for providing an appropriately safe, caring, and enriching environment for the children enrolled in the preschool program in alignment with the overall school's philosophy, organization, and curriculum.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education OR Bachelor's Degree with 12 credit hours in education course work or a valid, appropriate state certificate, OR Hold a child-care administrator's certificate from a community college with at least 15 college credit hours in child development, OR Such alternatives to the above as the principal may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Three years of experience as a classroom teacher of young children OR Minimum of 2 years experience in working with Elementary level students.
  • Thorough understanding of preschool operations
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, computer, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coordinate preschool functions
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Knowledge and implementation of Texas preschool guidelines
  • Comprehensive knowledge and proven success implementing programs for children based on developmentally appropriate practices
  • Accepts and respects differences in children, parents and coworkers
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to plan and/or implement instructional activities.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a variety of technology and equipment.
  • Ability to perform clerical responsibilities.
  • Ability to cooperate and work as a member of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift student if required by job assignment.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good written and verbal skills;
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Supports and adheres to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
  • Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
  • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.

  • Maintain, at all times, high-quality preschool standards based on developmentally appropriate practices
  • Assists the principal with the supervision preschool staff members, including substitute staff.
  • Assists in overseeing the hiring process and orientation for all new preschool staff.
  • Provide accurate and meaningful annual performance evaluations for all preschool staff.
  • Oversee the day-to-day functions of the preschool and manage staff.
  • Assists administration in developing and implementing policies and procedures for the operation of the preschool.
  • Maintain open, consistent, and effective communication with parents, providing parent education training, assistance, and support as needed.
  • Provide reliable, accurate and timely information about the preschool to interested parties.
  • Assist in other projects as assigned by principal.
  • Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Department of Catholic Schools and follow directives from location.
  • Follow attendance policy as assigned by location.
  • Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor.
  • Attend professional development seminars to maintain an understanding of the current best practices of curriculum and administrative functions of preschool programs.
  • Oversee the training and professional development of all preschool staff.
  • Assists in articulating the school's mission to employees and other stakeholders and solicit support in realizing the mission.
  • Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  • Represent the school in a professional, courteous, and positive manner at all times.
  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning for staff, students, and parents.
  • Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Effectively communicate staff, students and their families.
  • Perform all duties as assigned.
  • Assists in supervising all staff of the preschool, including substitute staff.
