As an Assistant Teacher, you will: Foster positive social and emotional growth in students Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to ensure smooth classroom operations Engage with parents or guardians to support student development Help maintain a well-organized, vibrant, and interactive classroom If a teaching position opens during the school year, the assistant teacher will be the first to step into the classroom role.

Requirements

High school diploma required
Prior experience in an educational setting is advantageous
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
A professional demeanor with excellent customer service skills, both internally and externally
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
Dependability and punctuality, with a strong sense of responsibility. Absence from work is limited only to emergencies and illness.
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment
Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Responsibilities

Assist the lead teacher in planning, supervising, and implementing the curriculum in alignment with Park Maitland’s policies and procedures.
Step in as a substitute teacher when needed, ensuring continuity of learning.
Support classroom organization, including contributing to the classroom’s appearance and décor.
Participate actively in school events such as Parent/Student Orientation, Winter Programs, and Open Houses.
Maintain and contribute to classroom displays, including student artwork and bulletin boards.
Uphold a positive, non-punitive approach to classroom management, focusing on positive reinforcement.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to the school’s values and ethos, maintaining professionalism at all times.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, ensuring a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
