About The Position

Dent Neurologic Institute is seeking a Pre-Registration Specialist to verify insurance and prepare patient appointments. The role verifies patient demographics and insurance information, checks referrals and insurance eligibility, determines patient out-of-pocket costs, confirms provider participation in insurance plans, and communicates issues and expected expenses to patients before appointments. The position also assists with compiling data for regular and special reports as requested by the Team Leader or other personnel. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for 40 hours per week, in Amherst, New York. Dent describes its culture as grounded in respect, quality, productivity, and well-being. Compensation is commensurate with experience; most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range.

Responsibilities

Verify patient demographics, including name, address, date of birth, primary physician, and current insurance, using insurance websites.
Check referral-based insurance plans to ensure a referral has been secured before the patient’s appointment.
Call patients to cancel appointments when a required referral has not been secured.
Use websites and phone calls to insurance companies to obtain eligibility and benefit information for specific appointment types.
Determine whether deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance apply and how much patients should bring at the time of service.
Confirm that the provider participates in the patient’s insurance plan.
Communicate insurance issues and out-of-pocket expenses to patients before their appointments.
Assist in compiling data for regular and special reports as requested by the Team Leader or other personnel.
