About The Position

Harrison County Hospital is seeking to hire an experienced Pre-op/PACU RN to join our team in the Surgery Department. This is a Full Time position, working Monday-Friday, 8a-4:30p plus call, with 32 hours per week. The RN Preop/PAT/PACU/Outpatient/Procedure Area, under the supervision and direction of the Surgical Nurse Manager, is responsible for coordinating the care of all patients in the Procedure room, PACU room and Out-Patient areas. This role involves meeting established surgical standards of nursing practice, managing personnel, supplies, and equipment in the preop area, PACU, PAT, and out-patient area, and promoting teamwork with physicians, surgical staff, and ancillary department personnel. Responsibilities also include conducting preop interviews related to pre-anesthesia testing. The ideal candidate should be emotionally stable, mature, accurate, and flexible in their interactions with others.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited college of nursing
Extremely organized
Tact and diplomacy in dealing with patient families, physicians and hospital staff

Nice To Haves

Previous OR, RR, OP surgery experience preferred

Responsibilities

Coordinating the care of all patients in the Procedure room, PACU room and Out-Patient areas.
Meeting the established surgical standards of nursing practice.
Managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment in the preop area, PACU, PAT and out-patient area.
Promoting teamwork with physicians, surgical staff, and ancillary department personnel.
Performing preop interviews as related to pre-anesthesia testing.
Performing IV starts and maintenance.
Accurately monitoring cardiac rhythms.
