About The Position

OrthoNY is seeking a skilled and compassionate Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse to join our team at our Executive Woods Surgery Center. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring a seamless patient experience before and after surgical procedures, delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The Pre-op/PACU RN will assist in providing high quality care during the pre-op and post-op phase of the patient's visit. Requirements

Current unrestricted NYS RN license
Ability to effectively communicate with providers, patients and peers
Candidate must demonstrate aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters, keeping flow to reasonable time frame in post-operative care
Specialized knowledge, skill and abilities in perioperative nursing
Capable of decision making when applicable
Valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel as needed

Nice To Haves

Minimum of 2 years previous PACU or critical care experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery
Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
Assess patients’ post-operative condition
Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress to ensure patient is meeting discharge criteria
Document all findings in patient files
Answer patient questions to ensure patient comfort
Monitor patients for condition changes, report any changes to physician
Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
Gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care
Other responsibilities as needed/assigned
