About The Position

Community Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Pre-Op PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team. This position is based in Grand Junction, CO. The RN will act as a patient advocate throughout the perioperative stay, maintaining high standards of care and collaborating with the perioperative team for continuum of patient care and discharge. Responsibilities include patient education, initiating isolation precautions, and responding to life-saving situations.

Requirements

RN License
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association with at least 3 months left before expiration is required upon hire

Nice To Haves

2 or more years of experience (for bonus eligibility)

Responsibilities

Acts as patient advocate throughout perioperative stay
Maintaining standards of professional care in accordance with American Society of Peri-anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) standards
Explaining procedures/treatment/discharge to patient and family members to alleviate apprehension and to verify understanding of procedure/discharge
Initiating/maintaining isolation precautions as appropriate for safety of patient, staff and visitors
Providing for the emotional/physical comfort and safety of patients and visitors
Responding to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocols
Collaborating with perioperative team, anesthesiologist and surgeon for continuum of patient care and discharge
Providing individualized discharge education and teaching as appropriate
Giving a patient report for transfer of care that includes assessment, safety issues etc.
