Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in nursing required.
  • 3 years of Medical/Surgical or Intensive Care experience.
  • Current Texas RN (or BNE Compact State) license required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • CCTC certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments, considering age-specific criteria.
  • Anticipates patient and family needs and develops appropriate plans of care.
  • Identifies and implements appropriate nursing interventions based on assessment and documents them.
  • Coordinates interdisciplinary plans of care and confers with healthcare team members.
  • Prioritizes nursing interventions, identifies changes in patient condition, and takes appropriate follow-up action.
  • Evaluates implemented interventions, modifies care as needed, and documents changes.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, clinical pathways, and nursing standards, and suggests practices to enhance care.
  • Provides education to patients and families, assesses their understanding, and ensures comfort with post-discharge care.
  • Welcomes and orients patients and families to the unit, encouraging participation in care.
  • Reports errors promptly and takes appropriate follow-up action.
  • Provides supervision and direction to unlicensed support personnel and new nurses, delegating duties appropriately.
  • Responds to patient and family complaints effectively and reports them to management.
  • Serves as an advocate for patients and families.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Attends at least 80% of scheduled staff meetings and 100% of mandatory educational sessions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
