About The Position

The Pre-Kindergarten/High School CTE Support Teacher is responsible for providing a rich educational experience for the 3 or 4 year old children in the Early Learning Academy (ELA). The teacher will serve as a support to the CTE teachers working with high school students who have chosen either elementary or secondary education as their career pathway. The teacher will also work with the paraprofessionals and the director in The Early Learning Academy to ensure the children are receiving an exceptional education. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas certification EC – 6

Nice To Haves

  • One year of teaching or applicable work experience in a Pre-K classroom or childcare
  • Eight hours of pre-service training
  • Ability to work with high school students in the education pathway who assist and observe in the Pre-K classroom
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with the Education pathway teachers
  • Maintain a safe environment based on Minimum Standards from the Department of Protective and Regulatory Services
  • Stimulate and encourage the growth of the child physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually
  • Maintain open, friendly and cooperative relationships with each child’s parent
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Attend to the personal needs of each child
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible and an appropriate example for both the children and the high school students
  • Maintain current CPE, AED, and First Aid Certifications
  • Assist the paraprofessionals in the classrooms to ensure safety of the children and provide developmentally appropriate lessons and activities
  • Supervise children and maintain classroom ratio at all times
  • Acquire 24 hours of annual trainings as dictated by licensing
  • Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families and their cultures
  • Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance and patience
  • Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program
