Pre-K Teacher Assistant (UPK)
About The Position
Healthy Kids Programs is seeking a Pre-K Teacher Assistant for its Arlington Central School District program during the 2026–2027 school year. The role supports four-year-olds in a structured, nurturing classroom and helps build skills and confidence for future school success. Working under the direction of the Lead Teacher, the Teacher Assistant helps implement lesson plans and supports classroom activities and daily routines. The program emphasizes play-based, child-centered learning; early literacy and numeracy; social-emotional development and positive peer interactions; support for diverse learning styles and individual needs; and preparation for Kindergarten. The position is part-time, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., and pays $18.00–$19.00 per hour. It is based in the Arlington Central School District in New York.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Teacher Assistant Certification.
- Successfully pass all required state background checks.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Creativity and adaptability when working with young children.
- Ability to remain active throughout the day in a hands-on classroom environment.
- Ability to lift and carry children when necessary; bend, kneel, reach, run, and sit on the floor; supervise children closely; and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree in education or a related field.
- Experience in childcare, early education, or classroom support.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direction of the Lead Teacher to support and carry out lesson plans, classroom activities, and daily routines.
- Assist with implementing learning activities and supporting smooth classroom transitions.
- Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Closely supervise children and support personal care routines, including toileting and handwashing.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and staff.
- Support the Lead Teacher in addressing and planning for individual student needs.
- Maintain consistent attendance to support classroom stability and UPK program requirements.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Lead Teacher or supervisor.
