About The Position

Under direction, coordinates the delivery, planning, monitoring, and managing Pre-K Nutritional Services at the designated City's Pre-K 4 SA Education Centers. This position is funded by sales tax that has been approved by the citizens of San Antonio for a limited time period. This position, therefore, is subject to at-will employment status, and is unclassified and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency)
  • One (1) year of experience in food service.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Food Manager Certification through a Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) accrediting food manager training program

Responsibilities

  • Directs, oversees, and confirms delivery of orders from approved food service vendor to verify quantity, quality, and specifications including removal of non-creditable foods, to ensure food compliance.
  • Unloads and sorts food commodities from food transport cart; assembles food boxes or packages for distribution to designated classroom.
  • Coordinate and ensure distribution of monthly menu including special diets and needs to designated students.
  • Maintains all serving schedules and services for all food items according to menu specifications defined by departmental policies and procedures.
  • Sanitize all dishes, serving tools, and equipment following completion of daily school meal service to ensure sanitation and safety practices of food service operations meet established standards.
  • Implements, follows, and enforces high standards of cleanliness, health, and safety.
  • Responsible for weekly ordering of meals while ensuring the proper number of meals and snacks are delivered to the designated classroom.
  • Maintains and manages accurate CACFP records, reports of daily and monthly production records, delivery receipts, and food distribution records for all classrooms.
  • Supports the coordination, planning, and implementation of nutrition related events with nutrition vendor that includes but not limited to farmer's markets, parent educational classes, and student instruction.
  • Coordinates with the Education Center's outdoor learning team to develop lessons that combine garden activities and student menus.
  • Communicates effectively with Pre-K 4 SA staff, food service vendor resolving discrepancies to ensure compliance with the TDA and USDA, students, and parents regarding nutrition services and program requirements.
  • Ensures accuracy in all record retention, closeout procedures, and required documentation for meal reimbursements.
  • Develop, implement, and manage inventory control techniques and procedures for the kitchen inventory and storage to ensure that proper stock levels are maintained.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
