About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring School-Age Childcare Staff for our Before and After School Program at Arthur S. May School in Poughkeepsie, NY for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is ideal for individuals who love working with children, possess energy, kindness, and patience, and enjoy encouraging children's curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The position requires teamwork, effective communication with families, and reliability. The program follows the school calendar and offers morning (6:30 AM - 8:45 AM) and afternoon (2:00 PM - 6:30 PM) sessions, with opportunities for one or both. This part-time, non-exempt position is well-suited for parents seeking a schedule aligned with the school day, education majors, or retirees looking to mentor children.

Requirements

• 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
• Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.

Nice To Haves

• 1 year of experience working with kids under 13 preferred

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
