About The Position

The Assistant Pre-K Teacher supports the Lead Pre-K Teacher in planning and conducting developmentally appropriate activities for up to 15 children aged 3-5, including those with special needs. They help create a safe and appropriate environment for children to develop personal relationships, social and self-help skills, and problem-solving abilities. The role also involves maintaining a clean and orderly physical environment, supervising classroom activities, and participating in parent education and involvement. The Assistant Pre-K Teacher may be assigned to various classrooms/centers and tasks as needed to meet program goals and ensure regulatory compliance. This position is dependent on Nevada Pre-K, annual grant renewal. Employees working within the scope of this grant understand if the grant is not renewed, they will still be employed by Sunrise Children’s Foundation, however, their position and salary will be subject to change.

Requirements

  • Must obtain at minimum a PRE-K CDA Certification within 9 months of hire at your own expense.
  • Experience with Pre-school age children in a center-based setting is necessary.
  • Proficient in English speaking, reading, and writing
  • Excellent record-keeping abilities
  • Ability to understand policies and educational materials, and communicate effectively with children, families, staff, and the public while maintaining professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • T.E.A.C.H program participation is highly encouraged.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) speaking and writing skills are helpful.
  • Preschool CDA or higher preferred.
  • 6 months of experience with infants/toddlers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Lead Pre-K teacher in ensuring compliance with all licensing regulations, additional state requirements, and SCF’s policies and procedures.
  • Actively participates in required meetings, training, and activities.
  • Develops and maintains individualized curriculum with the education team and parents.
  • Conducts screenings and assessments and develops plans for each child.
  • Maintains a healthy, safe, and culturally sensitive learning environment.
  • Maintains accurate records and completes required tasks by deadlines.
  • Builds positive relationships with families and promotes parent involvement.
  • Participates in transition activities.
  • Collaborates with program staff and partners to support the program's mission and goals.
