About The Position

The Pre-Hang Technician is responsible for the assembly, preparation, hardware installation, packaging, and quality inspection of custom wood door units. This position requires the ability to read technical drawings, operate a variety of hand and power tools, and safely handle large and heavy door components. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality products that meet customer specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in woodworking, manufacturing, carpentry, door assembly, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of door construction, assembly techniques, and hardware installation is beneficial.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Ability to accurately use measuring tools such as tape measures and vernier calipers.
  • Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn company software systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy and awkward door components, frequently with team assistance.
  • Ability to safely operate tools and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and production conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various hand and power tools, including saws, drills, nail guns, routers, and other woodworking equipment.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, door unit specifications, and hardware installation drawings.
  • Assemble a variety of door units, including: Single door units, Double door units, Arch door units, Door units with transoms and sidelites
  • Install door hardware, including hinges, multipoint locks, weatherstripping, and other related components.
  • Measure, mark, and verify dimensions using tape measures, calipers, and other measuring devices.
  • Cut and prepare wood, aluminum, and steel components to required specifications.
  • Safely lift, move, and position doors and assembled units, often with assistance from team members or material-handling equipment.
  • Package, crate, and prepare completed door units for shipment, including building custom shipping crates when required.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the assembly process to ensure products meet company and customer standards.
  • Utilize company software and technology tools, including CompanyCam and Masterpoint, for documentation, communication, and production tracking.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
