The Clinical Protocol Office (CPO) in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center is establishing a Pre-award finance team to assist over 100 Principal Investigators (PIs) in submitting budgets for various clinical trial funding sources, including federal, foundation, and private industry. The CPO Pre-award team is divided into two units: Systems and Budgets. Both teams contribute to the activation of clinical trials. The Systems team concentrates on the swift and accurate implementation of financial systems within the CPO, such as EPIC and OnCore. The Budget team utilizes OnCore and UNC systems (RAMSeS, ALICE, CRMS) to manage financial communications with the University and negotiate budgets with clinical trial sponsors. The Pre-Award OnCore Financial Analyst will be part of the Systems team, responsible for translating business requirements into OnCore implementations and optimizations. This role involves understanding and interpreting complex clinical trial budgets and payment terms from various funding sources (federal, private, for-profit, not-for-profit, business, industry, associations, foundations) to ensure contract and budget terms are accurately reflected in OnCore. The analyst will collaborate with Pre-Award and Post-Award team members to verify the accuracy of financial terms in OnCore against the Billing Coverage Analysis, Clinical Trial Agreement, Amendments, Informed Consent Forms, and other relevant documents. Additionally, the role requires working with internal groups (Lineberger, UNC Healthcare) to identify and resolve errors in EPIC and OnCore’s financial and coverage analysis consoles. The analyst must stay informed about new developments in research administration policies and requirements within the Lineberger CPO and UNC research community to provide up-to-date guidance on budgeting. A keen awareness of OnCore software modifications that could impact financials, patient care, and billing is essential. The position also involves monitoring cross-functional hand-offs to maintain study activation timelines and sharing critical information with stakeholders. Finally, the analyst will be responsible for developing, planning, and implementing end-user support for OnCore.
