About The Position

Skillforce is seeking motivated, entry-level candidates interested in starting a career in the electrical trade. This structured training opportunity is designed for people with little to no electrical experience who want to develop hands-on skills and build a long-term career. The six-month temp-to-hire program begins with one to three months of training at a shop in Frederick, Maryland, followed by assignments on commercial construction projects throughout Montgomery County, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. The program may lead to permanent employment and a fully sponsored electrical apprenticeship. During training, participants learn electrical construction fundamentals, including basic electrical theory, material identification and organization, tool use and safety, prefabrication of electrical assemblies and components, jobsite readiness, and construction best practices. After demonstrating readiness, participants transition to active projects as Electrical Helpers, supporting experienced electricians with commercial electrical installations. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, with overtime potentially available. Pay is $17 per hour. After six months, the contractor evaluates performance for direct-hire opportunities. Permanently hired employees receive full employee benefits, access to a paid electrical apprenticeship program, four years of electrical schooling while working and training, and opportunities for long-term career advancement.
