About The Position

Responsible for providing professional nursing care for SIH patients. This role involves assessing patients' mental, physical, and spiritual needs, establishing a compassionate environment, and providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families. The position requires assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team. Additionally, the role includes providing health teaching and counseling, utilizing clinical judgment and critical thinking to manage changes in patient condition, and ensuring timely and accurate documentation in patient medical records. The Registered Nurse also contributes to policy development, supervises licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistants, advocates for patients, and completes required education and competencies. There is a requirement to float to other SIH nursing units within competency level.

Requirements

  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
  • Current CPR/BLS Card
  • Current ACLS card (within 6 months of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
  • Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
  • Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
  • Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
  • Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
  • Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level
