Description of Responsibilities: The Pre-Admissions Testing RN is for gathering information from various outlets (physician, physician office, and patient) to determine eligibility for surgery in the Maine Eye Surgical Center. Responsible for coordinating surgical care for patients, working in collaboration with the surgeon, anesthesiologist and entire OR staff to maintain a safe surgical environment for the patient. This position generally works Monday – Friday between 8AM – 4:30PM.

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years nursing experience
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to collaborate with all healthcare team members for patient safety
  • Successful completion of RN program
  • Active Maine RN License
  • BLS required
  • Requires normal range of vision and hearing for telephone and patient contact.
  • Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending, reaching for files and supplies.
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, telephone, copier, and other office equipment.
  • Know and follow all safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow proper Workplace Ergonomics.
  • Report any unsafe act or workplace conditions.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Employment with Maine Eye Center contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, which may include verification of employment history, education, criminal record, and other factors, as required by law and company policy.
  • Background checks are conducted in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Pre-Admission Testing experience preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • ACLS preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs phone interviews with each patient to collect health history data.
  • Obtains necessary paperwork (PCP clearance, ECG, medication list, etc.) as indicated by individual patient health history.
  • Provides patient education to ensure proper preparation for surgery and explanation of admission/surgical process.
  • Maintain effective communication with OR and Surgical Scheduling regarding changes in patient schedule.
  • Perform other tasks as required
