This role serves as a primary point of contact for patients and visitors in an outpatient unit and provides excellent customer service through clear communication. The Practice Representative reports to the manager with input from assigned physicians, nurses and other health care providers. The role involves communicating with and assisting patients, other employees and the general public, providing accurate information, and taking complete and accurate information from patients/callers. Key duties include preparing schedules, medical records, and other documents, maintaining patient confidentiality, and performing check-in, registration, and verification of demographic and fiscal information. The representative also confirms prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications, collects co-payments, directs patients, monitors patient flow, acts as a liaison, processes patient check-out, schedules follow-up appointments, provides educational materials, and enters visit billing tickets.
