About The Position

knownwell is a weight-inclusive healthcare company dedicated to transforming obesity care. We offer a comprehensive care model that includes weight management, primary care, nutrition counseling, and health coaching, delivered through a combination of in-clinic and virtual support. With significant funding, including a $25M round led by CVS Health Ventures, we are rapidly expanding our reach and impact nationwide. We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Practice Manager to establish and lead our operations in San Diego, CA. This is a unique opportunity to build a new clinic from the ground up, reporting to the SVP, Practice Operations. The ideal candidate will possess an ownership mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and a talent for process development, driving team development, patient experience, and financial success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of healthcare operations experience
  • 2+ years in a clinic management or leadership role
  • Experience successfully launching or scaling a healthcare clinic or program
  • Experience managing clinic operating metrics and P&L performance
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and evolving environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in obesity medicine, primary care, and / or chronic care management
  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth healthcare organization
  • Familiarity with athenahealth
  • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant or clinical support role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful launch of the clinic, including site preparation, staff onboarding, and workflow implementation.
  • Hire, train, and manage a team of front office and clinical support staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and compassionate care.
  • Build and refine processes to ensure consistent, high-quality, and efficient service delivery.
  • Own key operational and financial metrics, using data to track performance, identify trends, and drive clinic results.
  • Partner with Operations & Finance leadership to develop budgets and prioritize high-impact initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Growth teams to support community outreach and referral relationships to grow the patient panel.
  • Provide hands-on support to Medical Assistants and clinicians with administrative and operational tasks as needed.
  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies, HIPAA, and all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Be fully onsite in the La Jolla clinic 5 days per week to support operations and build team relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.
