The Practice Manager I, Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership of one or more medical practices, typically consisting of fewer than five physicians and generating less than $2.5 million in annual charges. The Practice Manager ensures the practice operates in a safe, efficient, cost-effective manner while supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and an exceptional patient experience. The Practice Manager provides direct leadership and oversight of assigned clinical and non-clinical staff, including recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, performance management, staff development, and corrective action, up to and including recommendations for termination. Oversight of clinical staff is performed within the manager's scope of responsibility and in collaboration with practice physicians, nursing leadership, and other clinical leaders, as appropriate. The position is responsible for the overall operational and financial performance of the practice, including monitoring clinical and financial metrics, staffing and scheduling, patient access and flow, revenue cycle activities, billing and collections, resource utilization, and operational efficiency. The Practice Manager identifies opportunities for improvement and implements processes that support effective operations, open communication, regulatory and organizational compliance, professional excellence, and exceptional customer service. As a key member of the practice leadership team, the Practice Manager promotes a team-based approach to care and ensures staff are appropriately trained and functioning at the highest level permitted within their roles and scope of practice. The position supports effective care coordination, population health management, and patient and family engagement, including efforts that promote self-management, self-efficacy, and positive health behaviors. The Practice Manager actively participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives and partners with physicians, clinical leadership, and other organizational stakeholders to monitor outcomes, address operational or clinical workflow concerns, and implement improvements that enhance patient safety, quality, access, efficiency, employee engagement, and the overall patient experience. The Practice Manager I, Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operational management and overall performance of one or more physician practices. The Practice Manager provides leadership and oversight for key practice functions, including patient registration and scheduling, cash collection, charge capture and preparation, medical record workflows, referrals and authorizations, insurance processes, coding support, patient access, and other administrative and clinical operations necessary to support efficient practice performance. The Practice Manager provides direct leadership to assigned clinical and non-clinical staff and is responsible for recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, competency assessment, performance management, employee development, and corrective action, up to and including recommendations for termination. The Practice Manager establishes clear expectations, promotes teamwork, and holds staff accountable for performance, professionalism, quality, and the delivery of exceptional customer service. In collaboration with physicians, clinical leadership, and other organizational partners, the Practice Manager ensures effective daily operations and promotes a safe, efficient, and patient-centered care environment. The position monitors staffing, scheduling, patient flow, operational processes, and resource utilization and identifies opportunities to improve access, efficiency, employee engagement, and the overall patient experience. The Practice Manager assists with the development and management of capital and operating budgets in partnership with the Regional Manager or Director and is accountable for operating within established financial expectations. Responsibilities include monitoring monthly financial performance and budget variances, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement, preparing variance explanations as required, and overseeing applicable practice financial activities, including petty cash reconciliation, accounts payable, timekeeping, and other assigned functions. The Practice Manager supports organizational quality, safety, compliance, and performance improvement initiatives within the practice. Responsibilities include coordinating quality improvement activities, maintaining applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and requirements established by DNV, CAP, and CLIA, as applicable to the practice. The Practice Manager serves as a role model for organizational values and leadership expectations, promotes open communication and collaboration, and maintains the confidentiality of patient, employee, financial, and organizational information. The position also performs additional operational responsibilities in collaboration with and at the direction of the Director, physicians, and other organizational leadership.
