About The Position

The Practice Management Coach – Self-Directed Wealth Management (SDWM) plays a crucial role in partnering with SDWM leaders to achieve key business metrics such as Net Cash Flow and Net New Advised Assets. This role involves coaching leaders on systems, behaviors, and business practices to improve team performance in areas like breadth of coverage, asset consolidation, advice implementation, and specialist consultations. The coach will utilize business insights and performance data to identify opportunities and accelerate results. Additionally, the role focuses on leadership development, creating individual development plans, conducting regular coaching engagements, and facilitating practice reviews to drive measurable performance improvement. The coach will also act as a change champion, supporting the implementation of evolving sales and relationship management frameworks, guiding teams in adopting new tools and processes, including AI-enabled capabilities, and supporting the rollout of a new coaching system. Training and facilitation of leadership development sessions on coaching, sales effectiveness, and practice management are also key responsibilities. Success is measured by the achievement of business goals, demonstrated improvement in leader effectiveness, successful adoption of new tools and practices, positive feedback, and effective execution of strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Five years related experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • This job requires a regulatory license and/or registration (e.g. FINRA, state, SFC) determined by Compliance based on role-specific duties. Specifically, this role will require the Series 7 and the Series 63. However, these may be obtained within 90 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with SDWM leaders to achieve or exceed key business metrics, including Net Cash Flow and Net New Advised Assets.
  • Coach leaders on systems, behaviors, and business practices that drive improved team performance in areas of breadth of coverage, asset consolidation, advice implementations, product presentations, and specialist consults.
  • Utilize business insights and performance data to identify opportunities and accelerate results.
  • Develop and maintain individualized leader development plans for managers within the assigned span of support (~15-20 leaders).
  • Conduct regular coaching engagements with aligned leaders to strengthen coaching capability and business acumen.
  • Improve coaching effectiveness through observation, feedback, and accountability processes.
  • Facilitate leader practice reviews and support leaders in completing development cycles that drive measurable performance improvement.
  • Foster an ownership mindset and model Vanguard’s leadership principles.
  • Serve as a change champion by supporting the implementation of evolving sales and relationship management frameworks.
  • Partner with leaders to effectively adopt new tools and processes.
  • Guide teams through the responsible adoption of AI-enabled tools and capabilities.
  • Support the rollout and sustainment of a new coaching system and its integration within Distribution Excellence initiatives.
  • Design, facilitate, and support leadership development sessions focused on coaching, sales effectiveness, and practice management.
  • Deliver Professional Sales Coaching (PSC) and Relationship Connections (RC) training programs as applicable.
  • Reinforce consistent application of coaching frameworks, sales methodologies, and leadership practices across the business.
