About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Lead, Roadway Design to join their growing team in Western Canada. This senior-level role will lead a team and manage a portfolio of projects focused on collector and arterial road design, including transit corridors. The role requires a recognized expert in understanding municipal client needs, transportation planning and design, and managing complex multi-disciplinary teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on transformative projects, contribute to the development of sustainable transportation systems, and build strong relationships with public and private sector clients in the British Columbia and Alberta markets (Western Canada). The ideal candidate will also have extensive experience in project management and quality assurance, leadership, business development, and strategic problem-solving skills. You will lead the development and implementation of transportation solutions, manage client relationships at the senior management level, and provide oversight and mentorship to the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Transportation or Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or equivalent certification
  • 15+ years of relevant engineering experience, including leadership and portfolio management
  • Recognized expert in transportation engineering with a well-established professional network
  • Proven project success on medium-sized projects or portions of large projects, including effective direction of project teams for project execution
  • Strategic problem-solving skills and advanced technical knowledge in transportation engineering
  • Strong professional consulting skills, including project management, client relationship management, and commercial acumen at senior management levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to develop and deliver professional presentations
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines concurrently

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with both public and private sector clients, engaging with senior management to support ongoing and future projects.
  • Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, preparing proposals, and presenting to prospective clients.
  • Stay current with market conditions, transportation policies, standards, and trends in western Canada.
  • Recruit, motivate, and mentor team members to encourage professional growth and help meet project goals and objectives.
  • Manage and supervise a mid-sized team, directing project teams for successful execution and fostering effective communication across all levels.
  • Lead municipal transportation projects and consultation programs with key stakeholders, agencies, and the public to ensure alignment with community needs.
  • Perform senior-level technical work, delegate assignments, and oversee the completion of technical tasks by a dynamic team of engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight on multidisciplinary projects, ensuring quality deliverables such as technical reports, studies, and analyses meet required standards.
  • Review team's work products to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage project budgets to deliver assignments on time and within budget.
