About The Position

The Practice Facility Monitor will support the day-to-day operations at Berklee College of Music. Specific duties and responsibilities include: provide customer service to the Berklee and Boston community, receiving a high volume of walk-in inquiries, perform light clerical duties, monitor the online reservations on AAOF and the practice rooms, conduct hourly rounds of the facilities. As well other assigned tasks. Knowledge of basic school information, office operations, and familiarity with all Berklee buildings/classrooms is required. Due to the high level of social interactivity demanded by this job, students in this position should be personable, friendly and able to multitask.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer employment requires pre-registration for the upcoming fall semester.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Knowledge of basic school information, office operations, and familiarity with all Berklee buildings/classrooms is required.
  • Always be respectful of others and represent Berklee in a positive manner.
  • The ability to work well with others, and to take directions on tasks and projects.
  • Positive attitude and focus on customer service.
  • Knowledge of Berklee’s reservation system – AAOF
  • Basic knowledge of Apple Mac OS and Windows operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Apps (Mail, Calendar, Sheets, Docs).

  • Punctuality and reliability are a must as well as availability to work on weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors will be stationed at the front desk, to allow student access to their reserved rooms.
  • Assist students with their reservations.
  • Report all malfunctioning and equipment repairs to the supervisor.
  • Perform hourly rounds of all rooms to ensure compliance to rules, close doors, check equipment and doors.
  • Normalize all rehearsal rooms at beginning of the day and closing time.
  • Enforce no eating and drinking rules inside the rooms.
  • Enforce eligibility, only currently enrolled students are allowed to reserve rooms.
  • Manage a waiting list, allow students on the list access to rooms in case of no-shows.
  • Help moving equipment when necessary, student must be able to lift equipment, i.e.; amps.
  • Report hourly usage of the facility to the supervisor.
