About The Position

The Practice Coding Specialist is responsible for coding procedures and entering charges in compliance with federal and state regulations and internal policies. The specialist coordinates with the Practice Coordinator and Revenue Integrity to ensure necessary documentation supports selected procedure codes, or codes cases as needed. The role participates in audits to evaluate coding accuracy and develops methods to address identified coding issues.

Requirements

• Must hold a coding credential: RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, or RN.
• Two years of hospital and/or physician practice coding experience, or successful completion of the one-year Revenue Integrity Internship Program.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration.
• Three to five years of experience in a hospital and/or physician practice setting.
• Demonstrated communication skills and the ability to work independently and deal effectively with various types of personnel.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
