About The Position

Seeking an Inpatient Practical Nurse located within the Directorate of Nursing, Pediatric Unit at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. This position is for a Practical Nurse (Inpatient). A Relocation and Recruitment Incentive may be awarded. The salary range is $62,603 - $81,385 per year. The job is located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA, near the city of Tacoma. Madigan AMC is one of only three designated Level Two trauma centers within the U.S. Medical Command. Requirements

  • US Citizens
  • A current license to practice as a practical or vocational nurse in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia; OR must have applied for a license to practice.
  • One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing duties such as assisting professional health care providers with minor medical procedures; providing individualized nursing care; and administering oral medication and immunizations within an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care to patients in the inpatient setting with a variety of medical conditions, performing tasks such as recording vital signs, monitoring patient conditions, and reporting significant findings to the supervising nurse or physician.
  • Administers prescribed medications with increased independence, ensuring proper patient dosages, routes, and times are followed.
  • Assists in performing and managing medical procedures, such as wound care, catheterizations, and respiratory therapies, under the guidance of a registered nurse or licensed medical practitioner.
  • Provides patient and family education tailored to specific medical conditions, treatment plans, and recovery goals.
  • Assists patients with mobility, hygiene, and nutritional needs to promote comfort and recovery.
  • Assist the physician with various examinations and diagnostic procedures.
