About The Position

Mentavi Health is looking for a driven, detail-oriented Public Relations (PR) Intern to help elevate our earned media and communications strategy across both D2C and B2B brands. In this role, you will work under the direct guidance of Lauren Szalai, our Marketing & Growth Coordinator, to gain invaluable, real-world experience in digital health storytelling, media relations, and content creation. Structured around 100 hours of hands-on engagement, this internship is the perfect opportunity to dive into PR strategy and execution within a fast-paced telehealth company. This program offers a valuable opportunity to develop diverse skills and contribute to meaningful projects in a growing healthcare organization. This Internship Program will operate within a matrixed environment with coordination between the Program Lead and the specific departments and as applicable, executive leadership. For this specific internship, this role will be operate within a matrixed structure: the intern will work closely with and report to the Marketing & Growth Coordinator on all PR projects and deliverables, with program-level guidance and check-ins provided by the Internship Program Lead.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or volunteer experience in a PR, communications, or marketing function.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools (e.g., Muck Rack, Cision, Google Alerts, or similar).
  • Experience with social media platforms from a content or brand perspective.
  • Exposure to or genuine interest in mental health, healthcare, telehealth, or health technology industries.
  • Experience with Canva or basic design tools for communications materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage generative AI tools to improve research, writing, and workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Research and build targeted media lists, including journalists, bloggers, and digital health publications relevant to mental health, and telehealth.
  • Assist with drafting and distributing press releases, media pitches, and story angle recommendations.
  • Track and log media coverage and earned media mentions across both brands; maintain a media coverage log.
  • Support outreach to podcast producers, newsletter editors, and online communities for potential coverage and partnership opportunities.
  • Draft short-form PR content including press release boilerplates, executive bios, and media-facing brand summaries.
  • Assist in developing contributed articles or thought leadership pitches on behalf of company leadership.
  • Support social media amplification of earned media placements and PR milestones.
  • Help maintain and update a PR asset library (media kit, brand facts sheet, headshots, logos).
  • Draft concise press release summaries for web publication, giving site visitors a scannable preview of earned media and company announcements
  • Monitor relevant news cycles, industry trends, and competitor PR activity in the mental health and telehealth sectors.
  • Identify and flag relevant award nominations, speaking opportunities, and editorial calendars for consideration.
  • Compile research summaries and briefing documents to support PR planning.
  • Support in organizing documentation for PR projects, outreach logs, and media contacts.
  • Assist with coordinating internal review and approvals for externally-facing PR content.
  • Support the Marketing & Growth Coordinator with campaign coordination and cross-functional communications as needed.
  • Contribute to fostering a positive and inclusive company culture.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the overall operational needs of the organization.
