About The Position

The basic function of the Powerplant Manager (Second Shift) is to monitor the nightly overall operation of the Powerplant Division. This role involves providing training and assistance to subordinates, coordinating with other departments, evaluating and recommending facility/equipment upgrades, and maintaining the premises of the Repair Station Engine Shops. The manager is responsible for providing maintenance personnel with necessary tools, proper handling of all parts, and continually monitoring safety program compliance. Additionally, the role ensures adequate staffing, plans and directs activities for the second shift to minimize delays and increase production, liaises with other managers on workflow and priorities, and ensures approved data is used for maintenance, repair, and modification of fleet engines. The Powerplant Manager serves as the single point of contact for second shift operations in the Powerplant Division and performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years’ experience working in an aircraft turbine engine shop as a licensed mechanic
  • At least 5 of those years being in a supervisor or higher position.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Hold a valid US driver’s license
  • Basic computer skills
  • Available for flexible hours and weekends
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have the ability to read, write and understand spoken English.
  • Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must have the ability to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring the nightly overall operation of the Powerplant Division.
  • Providing training and assistance to subordinates in proper procedures, methods, and practices.
  • Coordinating with other Repair Station Departments as needed to ensure a continuous, smooth workflow.
  • Evaluating and recommending facility/equipment upgrades.
  • Maintaining the premises of the Repair Station Engine Shops in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Providing maintenance personnel with all tools necessary for timely completion of projects within budgetary requirements.
  • Proper handling of all parts while in the repair process to include storage, control, segregation, and identification of all items or units removed from or awaiting installation on an engine.
  • Continually monitoring safety program compliance.
  • Staffing with adequate, competent manpower to ensure a quality product while ensuring duty time limitations are not exceeded.
  • Planning, directing, and coordinating the activities for the Engine Shops second shift to minimize delays and increase production.
  • Increasing efficiency through development, use, and monitoring of work schedules and flow charts.
  • Liaising with the Powerplant Managers for Building 1, 2, 3, and Test Cell as well as the Project Managers on workflow and priorities.
  • Ensuring that approved/accepted data is used in the maintenance, repair, and modification of fleet engines and appliances.
  • Serving as the single point of contact for second shift operations in the Powerplant Division.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the Director of Powerplant Maintenance Division.
