The Military DoD SkillBridge program offers Service members an opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience through industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during their last 180 days of service. This program connects Service members with industry partners like GE Aerospace for real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can receive up to 180 days of permissive duty for full-time training with approved partners, subject to unit commander approval. GE Aerospace provides real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields, while also evaluating the Service member’s suitability for the work. Participants are not compensated by GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits. At GE Aerospace, the mission is to invent the future of flight, lift people up, and bring them home safely, as a world-leading provider of jet engines, components, and integrated systems for commercial and military aircraft. The company culture emphasizes respect for people, attracting and developing diverse talent, and fostering communities where individuals can reach their fullest potential. This role is for a Powerplant Certified Technician located in Durham, NC, with a cohort starting in January 2027. There may be an opportunity to interview for full-time placement after the SkillBridge program.
