About The Position

We are currently looking for 15 Apprentice Powerline Technicians to join our Regional Operation team throughout Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Supervisor, you will be responsible to develop skills in all aspects of line maintenance, construction, customer service work while ensuring compliance with safe work methods and practices. You will be required to participate in competency-based training, regulatory training and be willing to participate in on-the-job training or training programs that support the development of additional skills. You may be temporarily assigned to multiple locations across Nova Scotia throughout your apprenticeship.

Requirements

  • Candidates must upload a recent copy of their driver's abstract in order for their application to be considered.
  • Must be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with multiple tasks and demands.
  • Minimum of grade 12 education or equivalent is required.
  • Must hold a driver’s license in good standing.

Nice To Haves

  • Successfully completed the Utility Line Work – Construction & Maintenance program at Nova Scotia Community College or equivalent.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills coupled with the flexibility and ability to adapt to rescheduled assignments.
  • Experience with associated trades is considered an asset.
  • Successful completion of level one pre-apprenticeship training is also considered an asset.
  • Holding a valid class 3 driver’s license with previous driving experience would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop skills in all aspects of line maintenance, construction, customer service work while ensuring compliance with safe work methods and practices.
  • Participate in competency-based training, regulatory training and be willing to participate in on-the-job training or training programs that support the development of additional skills.
  • Complete the theory and practical aspects, as well as a minimum of 8,000 hours in the apprenticeship program and pass the Red Seal PLT examination.
  • Be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.
