About The Position

The Powerhouse Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of power generation facilities across the United States. This position involves performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and urgent repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems within the powerhouse. The technician will collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to diagnose issues, implement solutions, and optimize equipment performance. A key outcome of this role is to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure by adhering to safety standards and maintenance protocols. Ultimately, the technician contributes to reliable energy production that supports community needs and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with completion of a technical training program in electrical or mechanical maintenance.
  • At least 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably within power generation or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work in various environmental conditions including confined spaces and at heights.
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Technical proficiency with diagnostic tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification in power plant operations or maintenance (e.g., NETA, OSHA 10/30, or equivalent).
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and SCADA systems.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance standards relevant to power generation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams or mentor junior technicians.
  • Proficiency with PLCs and SCADA systems.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on turbines, generators, transformers, and auxiliary equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using specialized tools and technical manuals, and perform timely repairs to restore equipment operation.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and parts inventory to support compliance and operational planning.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations personnel to implement upgrades, modifications, and safety improvements within the powerhouse.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and participate in root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of issues.
