Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Power & Thermal Systems Engineer to lead power generation and balance assessments across station configurations and architectures for the Axiom Commercial Station Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Hands-on proficiency with Thermal Desktop thermal analysis software
  • Experience modeling spacecraft power and thermal systems
  • Experience developing and using python-based tooling, libraries, and scripting to conduct analysis
  • Strong database and data architecture skills
  • Experience translating analysis results into reports, dashboards, and stakeholder-ready formats
  • Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
  • Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges
  • Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high quality results
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field (ABET-accredited preferred), required across all levels
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s preferred for Levels II-V
  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, strongly preferred for Levels VI-VII

Responsibilities

  • Execute power generation analysis using Thermal Desktop across a range of station configurations and parameters
  • Perform power balance assessments based on generation assessments and power consumption profiles
  • Maintain and version control (Git) scripts and tooling required to perform the above analyses
  • Maintain database used for storing power consumption data, heat sink projections, and configuration association analyses
  • Develop additional tooling (Python, MATLAB, etc.) for physics-based assessments in support of design of power generation sources.
  • Perform trade studies and various “what-if” scenarios regarding station power and thermal performance
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure accurate inputs and validate assumptions.
  • Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership
  • Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned
