About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Power Systems Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join our Power Delivery team in our Frisco, Texas office. With a focus on serving clients within the power delivery and energy sectors, the Power Systems Analyst will act as a technical expert in the analysis of power systems transient and steady state. This is an in-office position.

Requirements

  • 4+ years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm doing power studies.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • ETAP experience reqiured
  • Load Flow, Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory and methodology (and ability to create models)
  • Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
  • The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment

Responsibilities

  • Support the power electrical team to analyze systems, create software models, and write reports for various projects e.g. commercial, industrial and generation projects
  • Studies performed may include (per candidate experience): Load Flow / Reactive Power Analysis, Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or any steady state power system tool, Transient studies using PSS/E and PSCAD, Harmonic studies using ETAP, PSCAD or transient software
  • Partner with the electrical team to create calculations and drawings for various project types
  • Continually gain knowledge in power & energy industry
  • Assist with project design, specifications, and plans support
  • Review work with quality in mind to confirm compliance with Kimley-Horn quality standards
