About The Position

This position provides senior-level engineering support for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Power Services Group under the National Air-Space Implementation Support Contract (NISC), focusing on power systems and infrastructure. The successful candidate will deliver subject matter expertise, guide projects through all lifecycle phases, and contribute to strategic planning and implementation efforts. This includes providing engineering consultation for compliance with industry standards, participating in project planning and management, developing solutions to complex power engineering problems, managing change proposals and configuration control, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Strong background in power systems engineering with demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: short circuit coordination, arc flash analysis, generators, UPS systems, grounding, and lightning protection.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, NEC).
  • Twenty plus years of power systems experience.
  • Power engineering experience is a must. Other electrical engineering disciplines must have strong knowledge of power systems.
  • AA in electrical or electronics Technology. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of FAA/DoD systems, technical policies, standards and orders.
  • Knowledge of national/international/government standards and orders to include: grounding, lightning protection, short circuit coordination, arc flash studies, power quality and stability assessment, Electrical Line Distribution (ELD), engine generator and UPS applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering consultation to ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, and best practices across all phases of the system lifecycle, including requirements development, site assessments, design, design review, and implementation.
  • Participate in the project planning, execution, and management, including coordination of logistics, schedules, and technical strategies.
  • Develop solutions to complex power engineering problems, including analytical, simulation, and system-level approaches.
  • Manage National Change Proposal, Configuration Control Board process, and departmental website.
  • Collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams and with diverse stakeholders.
