About The Position

Eaton’s division is currently seeking a Power Systems Engineering Manager. The expected annual salary range for this role is $169,000 - $179,000 a year. This role ensures the safety of employees in low, medium, and high voltage work environments, enforces safety policies, trains and implements safety programs, and ensures safety equipment is available and tested. The manager acts as a sales and marketing agent in partnership with sales engineers to drive sales in the consulting and engineering business, identifies and develops prospective new customers, and stays current on market trends. They maintain customer relationships, facilitate teaming with other districts, and provide accurate input for profit plans and forecasts. The role leads efficient project execution, including sales quotes, cost control, subcontractor leveraging, inventory management, and backlog/project turn. A key responsibility is building an effective team through recruiting, talent assessment, training, development, goal setting, communication, performance appraisal, and policy conformance, while also providing leadership for employee professional growth and retention. The manager acts as a technical mentor and backup for the engineering team, providing front-line support on technical, sales, negotiation, project management, and commercial issues. They manage a diverse, dispersed field-based workforce across assigned territories and multiple office locations, ensuring the security and effective allocation of company resources. The position involves acting as the lead communicator with customers, district operations, sales force, manufacturing plants, product division management, and functional support staff, and managing escalation procedures for a 24/7 service business. The position is fixed location based in Wilsonville, OR office, but telecommuting may be allowed. Up to 15% domestic travel is required for various business purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a directly related field.
  • Seven (7) years of experience working in service of an engineering unit.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in power distribution and power systems engineering practices and procedures.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in product applications and meeting customer needs.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing and maintaining customer relationships and resolving complaints.
  • Two (2) years of experience in marketing and business planning.
  • Two (2) years of experience in market channel relationships and processes.
  • One (1) year of experience in people leadership and understanding of a fiscal entity and basic financial processes, including forecasting, profit tracking, and financial compliance.
  • One (1) year of experience in accounting principles and Profit and Loss.
  • One (1) year of experience in demand flow production concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of employees who work in low, medium, and high voltage work environments.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety policies, train and implement safety programs.
  • Ensure safety equipment resources are available and properly tested, and act as a safety liaison with customers.
  • Act as sales and marketing agent in partnership with sales engineers to help drive sales in the consulting and engineering business.
  • Identify and develop prospective new customers.
  • Keep current on the trends and significant issues in the local marketplace, providing direction for the strategic planning process.
  • Maintain effective relationships with and service to customers.
  • Facilitate teaming with other districts to support multi-district customers and/or industries.
  • Provide input to profit plan and monthly forecasts with accuracy so that the operation meets these goals on a regular basis.
  • Lead the efficient execution of projects, execute sales quotes, cost control, leveraging subcontractors, inventory management, and turn of backlog and projects.
  • Build an effective and skilled team through successful recruiting, assessment of talent, training and development, goal setting, communications, performance appraisal, and conformance to applicable company policies.
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure professional growth for employees and retention within the operation.
  • Act as a technical mentor and back up for the engineering team.
  • Provide front line support for engineering staff on technical questions, sales and negotiation questions, project management matters, and commercial issues.
  • Effectively manage diverse and dispersed field-based workforce in assigned geographic territory, which includes multiple office locations.

  • Act as the lead communicator with customers, district operations, general sales force, manufacturing plants, product division management, and functional support staff.
