Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently recruiting for a Power Systems Engineer 3/4 to join our team at our Bacchus facility in Magna, Utah. This role involves working as part of a multi-disciplined project team and requires comprehensive power system design, control systems, and machine safety experience. The engineer will manage large complex projects with skills in power, control, and electrical industrial automation. The position focuses on designing power and control systems for industrial process equipment used in the manufacturing of solid propulsion rocket motors, manufacturing facilities, and manufacturing equipment. The engineer will also develop control philosophies and P&IDs, design electrical control systems using Allen-Bradley PLC’s and Schneider SmartX controllers, and have a working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Responsibilities include designing low & medium voltage power distribution systems, specifying power distribution equipment, transformers, switch gear, MCC’s, power distribution panels, high resistance grounds, UPS’s and back-up generators. The role also involves developing various electrical drawings, designing and programming servo drives & variable frequency drives (VFD), and designing support systems such as fire detection, surveillance, lightning protection, and communication systems. The engineer will oversee installation and startup of new systems, manage electrical projects from conception to completion, develop drawing packages using AutoCAD, provide cost estimates, develop electrical maintenance guidelines, and work with maintenance craftsmen to troubleshoot issues. Project management includes supervision over all aspects of a project, including mechanical, civil, and other crafts, overseeing budget and schedule.
