About The Position

We are looking for an experienced power systems engineer with extensive experience in designing industrial AC and DC power back-up systems to join our engineering team and to build on our successful line of power products. This individual will design and develop industrial power systems incorporating battery chargers, inverters, monitoring products, batteries, protection, distribution, transfer, and other electrical equipment across a wide power range (150W to 100kW). This person will be involved from concept investigation and design, through successful production launch and support of these products.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial power systems design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar related field.
  • Experience designing industrial electrical control and power systems.
  • Strong understanding of AC / DC power circuits, circuit protection, system wiring and terminations, power supplies, and batteries.
  • Experience with electrical wiring, breaker sizing, and one-line drawings.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) related to the design of equipment.
  • Experience developing electrical products from concept through validation, production release, and ongoing manufacturing support.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills.
  • Flexible team player who actively establishes and maintains effective working relationships and who is willing to multi-task and help wherever needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with UL Standards for Industrial Control Panels (UL508A) or similar industrial safety standards.
  • Certified UL 508A Manufacturers Technical Representative (MTR).
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks Electrical software.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop industrial indoor / outdoor back-up power systems containing chargers, batteries, battery monitoring, AC & DC power distribution, transfer switches, inverters, and other equipment.
  • Create detailed electrical wiring diagrams and bill of materials specifying all the required equipment, batteries, electrical connections, wire gauges, busbars, breakers, fans, and other equipment required.
  • Perform load calculation, conductor sizing, short circuit current calculations, and component de-rating calculations.
  • Ensure designs are in compliance with national and international standards including UL 508A, UL 1012, UL 1236.
  • Participate in the validation testing, and production release of electrical designs.
  • Conduct peer to peer and cross-functional design reviews.
  • Provide problem resolution support for production and field issues as needed.
