About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide applied electrical engineering and technical expertise for customers in the areas of power systems studies, power quality analysis, installation, startup, maintenance, and repair. This role involves performing power system engineering assessments, electrical design improvements, and providing technical support to ensure the safety, performance, and compliance of electrical distribution systems.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
0-2 years' experience
Ability to register as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in the State of California with the Board for Professional Engineer, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
Proven skills in written and oral communication of technical topics.
Ability to run small to medium studies and projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer.
Solid theoretical understanding of electricity and a good aptitude for problem solving.
Dependable and responsible with good judgment and organizational skills.
Good customer service, time management and follow-up skills.
Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office as well as efficient use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research.
Ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift or move up to fifty (50) pounds of test equipment.
All work and decisions shall be conducted in strict compliance of all regulatory laws.

Nice To Haves

ETAP or SKM Software experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

Perform power system engineering assessments of electric power systems in the areas of proficiency of protection device coordination, short-circuit calculation, arc-flash hazard analysis, design improvements of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
Assess results and prepare written report of findings, proposals, and improvement solutions.
Perform electrical design improvements primarily to support upgrades of facilities’ electrical distribution system in conjunction with needs determined in the assessment stage.
Meet customers on-site and review and identify their needs.
Provide Engineering cost estimates and bid proposals.
Utilize Engineering skills and applicable codes and standards to implement electrical systems that are safe, dependable, and cost-effective.
Provide technical support and quality control for assigned projects.
Proficient in reading and accurately interpreting power system wiring diagrams including DC elementary drawings.
Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers and peers.
Work effectively with customers, peers and management to resolve client issues.
Other duties as assigned by manager.
