About The Position

ISO New England is seeking a Power System Modeling Engineer Intern to assist with updating and maintaining the network model, creating planning study cases, and analyzing generation and load data. This internship provides hands-on experience with tools like PSS®E, involves working on real projects, and offers insight into inter-departmental collaboration within ISO. The role is ideal for electrical engineering students with a power systems focus, strong problem-solving abilities, and an interest in coding and data analysis. Interns will gain practical experience, learn from experts, and contribute to the reliability and planning of the regional grid.

Requirements

Enrollment in an electrical engineering program with a power systems concentration.
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently as well as within a small team environment.
Must have completed at least the first year of college and be currently enrolled in a four year or graduate-level academic program.
Must have the authority to work in the US on a permanent basis, without requiring sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Graduate student preferred, but rising seniors will be considered if requirements are met.
Experience with PSS®E preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with data handling and updates to the New England Network Model.
Help create planning study cases for transmission owners.
Update generation profiles by gathering data from multiple sources.
Review and maintain contingency project data, load profiles, and resource data.
Support the Model Administration and Support Team in testing and validating model changes.
