About The Position

The City of Cuyahoga Falls is seeking applicants for the position of Power System Manager. Under the general guidance and direction of the Electric Utility Assistant Superintendent, the Power System Manager participates in the supervisory, logistical and administrative support tasks required to carry out the operational mission of the electric division of the Department of Public Service. This position performs various technical and engineering tasks related to the city’s electric substation, transmission and distribution systems; ensures that engineering designs and their applications are compliant with the codes and standards set forth by the appropriate authoritative bodies; assists in the preparation of all project forecasts; and performs related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience working on power system circuit projects, and project management experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and the ability to maintain continuing eligibility under the city’s driver eligibility standards.
  • Be a non-smoker and non-tobacco/nicotine user, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff, etc., and refrain from using all tobacco/nicotine products for the duration of employment with the city.
  • Knowledge of modern methods and procedures, mission, equipment facilities, and operations of the division to which assigned.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and practices used in the construction, maintenance, repair, distribution, collection, etc., as applied to assignment.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards associated with the division’s operations, and the ability to ensure necessary safety precautions are known by subordinates and applied.
  • Knowledge of management principles.
  • Skilled in electrical circuit and control systems.
  • Skilled in interpersonal and human relations skills for effective, positive and responsive public relations with the citizens of the municipality, council members, coworkers and subordinates.

  • Applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or electrical technology are preferred.

  • Learn to use technical software used in the job, such as SCADA programming and circuit analysis software.
